Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas Waits Out Dorian Off Long Island

Due to Hurricane Dorian, cruise lines still continue to modify itineraries and make adjustments.

Royal Caribbean announced a change to the Adventure of the Seas September 6th New England / Canada cruise. It was announced that the cruise would drop a call at Bar Harbor and instead spend an additional day at sea. Little did anyone know the day at seas was going to be spent in position off of Long Island's Long Beach. In view of the shore and the Veranzaro Narrows Bridge, the Adventure of the Seas spent a good part of the day at an anchorage with oil tankers and container ships, allowing Dorian to make her way up the US East Coast.  Here is the timeline....

The Adventure of the Seas arrived in New York on 9/6 (Friday). Loaded passengers, she sailed at 6 PM. By 7:15 PM she took up her anchorage position and remained off the Long Island Shore until Saturday at 12:15 PM when she turned to the sea and proceeded to Portland ME.

It should be noted that the Adventure of the Seas crossed paths with the Anthem of the Seas on Friday. As the Adventure sailed out, the Anthem of the Seas was returning from her prior cruise - a full 12 hours ahead of schedule at 6:30 PM. Instead of making the left hand turn into Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ - the Anthem proceeded to lower Manhattan to give passenger a view of the New York skyline and then turned around before docking in Bayonne just before 8 PM.

The Anthem of the Seas departed New York / New Jersey as scheduled and made her way to Bermuda on Saturday (9/7).
