Many European Cruise Lines like AIDA and P&O focus on specific demographics. P&O on the British market and cruise passengers, while AIDA focuses on German cruise passengers. This past weekend, P&O's Aurora and AIDA's AIDAdiva were alongside as well as Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Escape, Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Summit and Cunard's Queen Mary 2. North Atlantic Storm Delays Ship Arrivals.

Image
In what is a rare event, both the arrival of Cunard's  Queen Mary 2 and P&O Cruises' Aurora were both delayed due to a North Atlantic. Both ships departed Southampton on 9/16/2018 en-route to the Big Apple. The Aurora was the first of the pair to pull into the Manhattan Cruise Terminal at around 11 AM. At about the same time, the Queen Mary 2 was just passing under the Veranzarro Narrow Bridge. The Queen Mary 2 pulled along side at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal at 11:45 AM - approximately 6 hours behind schedule. New York was a port of call for the Aurora so visiting cruise passengers had about 3 hours less time to spend ashore. The Queen Mary 2 arrival was quite a different story, her disembarking passengers were possibly late for their flights home or missing shore-side commitments, The majority of cruise passenger for the next cruise were arriving at the pier in anticipation of a 1 PM boarding. The crew was under added pressure with having to unload luggage, str

Beautiful Sunday In New York - Great Day to VIsit the Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Image
Statue Of Liberty Attraction for Visitors and Residents Alike. As mentioned in my previous blog article, this Sunday turned in to a relatively nice day with periods of  torrential rain, other time great, bright sunshine with amazing white clouds. As usual I looked for a vantage point to photograph the cruise ships departing / arriving and chose Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Liberty State Park offers the opportunity to take great photos of the New York Skyline in the late afternoon. Liberty State Park is one of two locations in the port, where visitors can board a ferry to the State of Liberty and/or Ellis Island. (The second embarkation point for Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island Ferries is Battery Park in Lower Manhattan). I arrived at the park at about 4:15 PM to witness hundreds of people filing off of ferries carrying tourists from the attractions. The ferries are operated by Statue Cruises (a division of Hornblower Cruises & Events). Seeing this made me apprecia
