Wednesday 9/25/2019 - Princess Cruise's Sapphire Princess will make her maiden call at the port of New York for an overnight stay. Departing on Thursday, the Sapphire Princess' passengers will enjoy 2 full days of activities in the Big Apple. The weather is expected to be wonderful, with bright sunshine and temps in the mid-70s.
The ship, which left Southampton, England on September 14th, 2019 on a 24 night - New England / Canada cruise.
The Sapphire Princess was originally built in 2004 in Japan at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Weighing 115,875 tons, measuring 951 feet long and 157 feet wide, the ship has 2 turbines built into the ship's funnel. The design was a prototype - moving some of the ship machinery out of the hull - allowing more room for cabins and public spaces. The ship, and her 2,678+ passengers will enjoy an overnight stay at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal before heading north to New England and Canada enroute back to Southampton.
