Princess Cruises' Regal Princess Sounds Horn - Surprised!


On Saturday, Princess Cruise's Regal Princess called at the port of New York to embark passengers on a New England Canada Cruise. Just prior to her departure (which was 75 minutes late), the ship sounded her horn. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of the horn.

Aida Cruises Cancels Sailings to the U.S. and Canada

Aida Cruises AIDAluna was expected to sail from New York to New England / Canada or the Coastal US and Bahamas - until AIDA cruises decided to cancel all 2020 US based cruises. Aida Cruises, a German based cruise line owned by Carnival Corporation , has made the decision to suspend all cruises to the United States and Canada in 2020 due to travel bans and restrictions in both countries. The cruise line has traditionally sailed from New York to both New England / Canada and East Coast ports like Norfolk, Charleston SC, Port Canaveral and the Bahamas on two ships. Most of their cruises feature overnight stay in New York to offer their German Clientele time to explore New York City. The AIDA ships have limited dining room eateries and were focused more on buffets and cooking stations. Beautiful Sunday In New York - Great Day to VIsit the Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Statue Of Liberty Attraction for Visitors and Residents Alike. As mentioned in my previous blog article, this Sunday turned in to a relatively nice day with periods of  torrential rain, other time great, bright sunshine with amazing white clouds. As usual I looked for a vantage point to photograph the cruise ships departing / arriving and chose Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Liberty State Park offers the opportunity to take great photos of the New York Skyline in the late afternoon. Liberty State Park is one of two locations in the port, where visitors can board a ferry to the State of Liberty and/or Ellis Island. (The second embarkation point for Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island Ferries is Battery Park in Lower Manhattan). I arrived at the park at about 4:15 PM to witness hundreds of people filing off of ferries carrying tourists from the attractions.
