New York is s a destination to itself. If you are traveling to New York from a distance, I encourage you to stay at least one extra day to take in all there is to do in New York.. In addition to the normal sites and attractions, there are always a number of festivals, street fairs and parades to offer visitors something unique to see or do.

One prime example is the San Gennaro Festival. The Feast of San Gennaro is one of New York City's most popular and longest-running street fairs.  Now in it's 92nd year, the festival attracts more than a million people annually to the streets of Little Italy.  The 11-day festival includes live music, carnival games and most of all food. This religious festival also celebrates, Italian heritage and is held mid-late September.

Additional parades and feasts to name a few include: The Greek Parade, Puerto Rican Day Parade, Gay Pride Parade, Thanksgiving Day Parade, Halloween Parade, St. Patrick's Day Parade and much, much more.

A quick Google search will give you a complete list of things to do and see in New York City, the 5 boroughs and surrounding areas.
