Cruise Ships Increase Speed in Order to Get Ahead of Hurricane.

Norwegian Escape - Norwegian Cruise Lines Sails for Bermuda

Today (Sunday) the Norwegian Escape and Celebrity Summit departed New York / Cape Liberty, NJ destined for Bermuda. Although both ships left their pier on time, the ships appeared to be traveling at an unusually faster speed than normal.

While watching the evening news, the weather person mentioned that tropical storm Chris has the potential to become a hurricane within the next day and is located off the coast of North Carolina.

It appears the both ships were speeding up to get ahead of the storm and have the storm pass behind them.

It was an absolutely beautiful day in New York today with a temperature of 90 degrees and low humidity and the weather conditions were ideal for a departure.

Cunard Line' Queen Mary 2 will sail an altered itinerary in Asia. Cunard Line Queen Mary 2 left New York on January 13, 2020 as part of a 113 day World Cruise. Select Cruise Lines Try To Reenter Service With New Restrictions and Preventative procedures.

  German and Italian Cruise Brands start limited service - sailing short cruises restricted to domestic ports and Italian and German Nationals Select cruise lines has decided to start cruising operations outside of United States waters Norwegian cruise line - Sea Goddess has started cruises for Norwegian citizens on their private yachts - only calling at ports within Norway. Carnival Owned German cruise line Aida Kreuzfarten  is planning to start operations from German ports calling at select German cities. Royal Caribbean's jointly owned German cruise operation Mein Schiff began cruising last month - sailing short cruises to to nowhere for German nationals only. As part of the cruise, the ship sailed to the shipyard where is was built allowing passengers a view of the shipyard. Later this month Carnival Cruises' Italian brand Costa Cruises - will start sailing from Italy with 2 ships.
