The Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore headed north toward Canada to avoid a hurricane. Sailing off the coast of Aquaforte Canada, in a surprising move, the Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore headed east toward Denmark. Sailing about 2-3 nautical miles the entire crossing the ships arrived in Europe on August 12.  Today the ships are alongside in Copenhagen Denmark. Holiday Cruising From New York / New Jersey I have my fingers crossed that life will be somewhat back to normal by Christmas. For those seeking a holiday cruise, I wanted to share with you a Holiday and New Year Cruise I took in 2014/15 with my family which was quite enjoyable. I hope you enjoy this read........... In my 40 years of cruising, I have never taken a cruise over the Christmas or New Year's holidays until this year (2014/15). On December 22nd, I boarded Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem on an 11-day cruise from New York, visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, St. Maarten; St. Kitts and Tortola. I chose the cruise because of the duration and the selection of ports that are seasonally visited from New York. In addition, this is one of the few cruises that incorporated both the Christmas holiday and the New Year's celebration. The excessive winds, combined with the challenging currents made maneuvering the 93,530 ton ship up the Hudson River and making the right hand turn into the pier practically impossible. America's Cup Delays Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem Departure.

Image
Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem Sailing From New York to Florida and the Bahamas 5/7/2016 - Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem pulled away from Pier 88 at 4 PM right on schedule to only sit idle in the middle of  the Hudson River waiting the completion of an America Cup Race. It was quite unusual that the Norwegian Gem had two tug boats to help  her from the pier and then hold her in position while the race completed. The race was occurring about 2 miles down river from the Norwegian Gem, where 100+ boats had the lower harbor impassable. The Norwegian Gem sat in position for about 20 minutes awaiting clearance and then proceeded on her 7-dayFlorida and Bahamas cruise Return to NYCruiseInfo.com Related Links ------------------- NYCruiseInfo.com - Free information on Cruises Departing from New York and New Jersey.
