Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem Sailing From New York to Florida and the Bahamas
5/7/2016 - Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem pulled away from Pier 88 at 4 PM right on schedule to only sit idle in the middle of  the Hudson River waiting the completion of an America Cup Race.

It was quite unusual that the Norwegian Gem had two tug boats to help  her from the pier and then hold her in position while the race completed. The race was occurring about 2 miles down river from the Norwegian Gem, where 100+ boats had the lower harbor impassable.

The Norwegian Gem sat in position for about 20 minutes awaiting clearance and then proceeded on her 7-dayFlorida and Bahamas cruise
