Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Spirit in Cold Lay up in Norfolk, Va.

In an interesting move, Norwegian Cruise Line's 3 ships in cold layup in Norfolk, Virginia all headed out to sea on the morning of June 5th. The Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Spirit's departure is mechanical  in nature  intending to exercise the ship's engines,  desalinization plants, generate fresh water, generate power, test navigational equipment and more.

All three ships returned to Norfolk's Portsmouth Marine Terminal on June 8th.

Royal Caribbean Announces Shoreline Staff Reduces and Others Furloughed

Royal Caribbean Announces Reduction Due to the Coroniavirus and Temporary Suspension of Operations. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is reducing its staff by laying off or furloughing approximately 26% of its 5,000+ US-based workers.  The company broke the news to employees on Wednesday after announcing the termination of many crew contracts earlier in the day. In a statement a company representative stated, 'The circumstances of the pandemic made this action unavoidable, and it hurts to part ways with so many good and talented people. Also on the same day, saw the resignation of  Larry Pimental - Azamara Cruises President - a long time cruise executive and cruise industry veteran. Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas to Sail 6 Day New England Canada Cruise.

Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas to Sail a Canada, Florida, Bahamas Royal Caribbean's extensively refit - Oasis of the Seas will sail from New York on one Canada cruise. The cruise will depart Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ on June 21, 2020 sailing to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada and Halifax, Nova Scotia . For the remainder of the 2020 Spring / Summer / Fall the Oasis will sail from Cape Liberty Bayonne, NJ to Port Canaveral Florida , Nassau, Bahamas and Coco Cay (Royal Caribbean's Private Island).
