Norwegian Cruise Lines Move Ships to Distant shores - Some indication where they expect to resume service.   Unfortunately there has been no news on cruises resuming from the Port of New York and New Jersey as of today. Looking at where the Norwegian Cruise Line ships are currently located - it does not appear that resuming New York / New Jersey Cruising is not in the near future.   At this time, the Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Escape are located off of Singapore. The   Norwegian Joy spent some time in drydock in Singapore last week.   The Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore are located in Copenhagen, Denmark and the Norwegian Star is in Southampton, England. The Norwegian Spirit and Norwegian Dawn are in Syracuse, Sicily Italy. The Norwegian Breakaway is in Marseilles, France.   The Norwegian Epic is in Civitavecchia, Italy. Where is Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem?

Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem - Currently idle in Nassau, Bahamas. 3/22/20 - Although originally reported to be laid up temporarily in Jacksonville, Florida, the Norwegian Gem headed from New York directly to Nassau. As of Sunday, the Norwegian Gem remains dockside with other Norwegian Cruise Line , Seven Seas Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises ships. (all of the Norwegian Cruise Lines Family). Located in Nassau with the Norwegian Gem is the Norwegian Breakaway (another New York favorite) and Norwegian Encore (coming to New York in the summer). The Norwegian Gem was expected to sail 10 and 11 day cruises from New York before heading to Boston for Boston to Bermuda cruises in May/June. The current plan has the cruises from Boston operating as planned. Berthed together is the Seven Seas Explorer and the Riviera of Seven Seas Cruises. Saturday A Quiet Port - Sunday Things Pick Up

Manhattan Cruise Terminal on a busy day. - NY Economic Development Organization New York Harbor looked sad this Saturday. The temperature in New York City peaked out at 53 degrees and Sunny on Saturday 2/22/2020. People were outside enjoying the warmer weather and as I walked along the river - no cruise ships were in port. None of the busy port traffic was chris-crossing the Hudson River. Only the occasional ferry was sailing between New Jersey and New York. Missing were the excursion boats, tug traffic, yachts, pleasure craft and most of all - the cruise ships. The marine traffic was noticeably missing as the cruise ship piers remained empty. Sunday saw the arrival of the Norwegian Bliss and Anthem of the Seas. The Norwegian Bliss docked alongside pier 88 in Manhattan. The Anthem of the Seas docked in Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ. Norwegian Cruise Line Increase Delivery Charge for Room Service Fleet Wide Norwegian Cruise Line has raised the mandatory fee for all room service orders to $9.95 -- up $2 from $7.95. The service charge is applied per order, and applies to all room service orders except continental breakfasts orders. Cruisers sailing in a Haven suite are exempted from the fee. The smallest in the series - the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway weigh in at 145,655 tons. The largest is the Norwegian Encore at 169.116 tons delivered in the fall of 2019. Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Joy to Sail From New York in 2021 Norwegian Cruise Line has announced select 2021 ship deployments. New in 2021 is that the Norwegian Joy will be based out of New York sailing to Bermuda - (Replacing the Norwegian Bliss (2020), Norwegian Encore (2019) and Norwegian Escape (2018), Norwegian Breakaway (2017 + earlier) ). The Norwegian Joy was built in 2017 specifically for the Chinese Market sailing from China. NCL decided to remove the Norwegian Joy from the Chinese Market. The Norwegian Joy underwent an Americanization removing all Chinese specific signage and amenities. Since her removal from China, the Norwegian Joy has been sailing in the Caribbean and Alaska  catering to American and European travelers.  Additional details are below. Norwegian Escape Moves to New York to Replace Norwegian Breakaway.

Last Sunday Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Breakaway departed its long time homeport of New York for European Waters. The Norwegian Breakaway will sail a spring, summer and fall season of cruises from Germany and Copenhagen Denmark to Northern Europe. Her replacement, the Norwegian Escape, after loading stores but NO passengers, departed Miami early on Friday morning (4/20/2018). The ship cruised full speed to New York and arrived on Sunday 4/22/2018 entering the harbor at 11:00 AM and docking at the New York Passenger Ship Terminal shortly after noon. The ship was quickly readied for embarking passengers who were supposed to board at 1:00 PM. Passengers boarded as scheduled and at approximately 6:45 PM the Norwegian Escape dropped her lines started her 7 Day cruise to Bermuda. Manhattan Cruise Terminal on a busy day  Yesterday was a busy day in the Port of New York with each one of the 3 New York cruise terminals having a large cruise ship tied-up. At the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Breakaway loaded happy passengers for a 7 day cruise to Bermuda. In Brooklyn, Cunard Lines’ newly refurbished Queen Mary 2 prepared for her transatlantic sailing to Southampton, England (via Halifax Nova Scotia), and finally Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Summit embarked Bermuda bound passengers in Cape Liberty, Bayonne, New Jersey.
