Where's the Queen Mary 2? Cunard Announces Queen Mary 2 Heading to Southampton.

Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is expected to sail directly back to Southampton.

Cunard has announced that the Queen Mary 2 is heading back to Southampton England abandoning the remainder of her world cruise due to the coronavirus. Although there are no reports of any infected passengers, Cunard has decided to halt the cruise as a precaution. The Queen  is expected to depart Port Louis, Mauritius on March 23, 2020 and  arrive in Southampton  on April 11, 2020.

  Empress of the Seas is One of the Royal Caribbean Ships At Risk Of Being Sold In a recent earnings call Royal Caribbean Group announced that they are indeed looking at possibly shedding older ships in addition to the Sovereign and Monarch (ex Monarch of the Seas and Sovereign of the Seas) which were recently beached in Alaiga, Turkey. Royal Caribbean has announced that the 3rd ship in the Pullmantur fleet - the Zenith - which sailed for many years from New York to Bermuda for Celebrity Cruises - will most likely be scrapped. The Zenith is laid up in Lavrio Greece.  Just as a side note the Zenith was supposed to be chartered/purchased by Peaceboat,org for world wide peace missions. She was supposed to sail along side the Ocean Dream (originally built as Carnival Cruises' Tropicale). Based on the announcement above it is unclear which ship(s) Peaceboat will operate in 2021. Italian Line's Sleek and Modern Ocean Liner Michelangelo and Raffaello. The final two new liners built for the Italian Line, the Michelangelo (April, 1965) and Raffaello (1965) were the luxurious, sleek, modern liners using many new construction materials. The superstructure of the liners was primarily made of lightweight aluminum.  Despite being planned as identical ships, Raffaello was 2.3 feet shorter, 1.3 feet wider, and approximately 22 tons larger than the Michelangelo. The Michelangelo weighed in at 45,933 tons; 903 feet long; carries; 1,775 Passengers and 720 crew. Built as 3 class liners, they were not well suited for the cruising trade when airlines grew in popularity and cruising  was the life blood of the transatlantic operators. Cunard Queen Mary 2 to Add More Cruises To/From Hamburg in 2013. The Queen Mary 2 will also sail a number of Round-Trip sailings from Hamburg to Northern Europe, including a 2 day cruise to Southampton England.  Cunard Line is adding 65% more transatlantic cruises in 2013 which include Hamburg, Germany. These cruises will either leave New York or Hamburg, Germany and stop in Southampton England. The number of cruises departing or arriving from Hamburg in 2013 will increase to 10 from 6 in 2012.
