Update On Anthem of the Seas.
Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas return to Cape Liberty Bayonne at 5:45 PM today. |
UPDATE TO THE POST EARLIER TODAY.
The Celebrity Summit was turned around in record time today - dropping her ropes from the pier in Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal in Bayonne, NJ at about 4:50 PM. This departure was some 7 hours after arriving. In those 7 hours, 3,000+ people disembarked, their luggage was unloaded, food and supplies were on-boarded, all cabins were stripped, linens washed, beds made fresh, 3,000+ new Passengers embarked, their luggage was put onboard, fuel loaded and exterior maintenance was performed on the ship.
As she left Cape Liberty, the Celebrity Summit hooked a right hand turn heading torward the Verarazano Bridge and passing the stationary Anthem of the Seas - which spent most of her day hovering between Brooklyn and Staten Island. The Celebrity Summit and Anthem of the Seas exchanged horn blows as they passed each other. Both Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean are part of the Royal Caribbean International Family.
Unfortunately the Anthem of the Seas needed to continue to wait outside of Cape Liberty, becuase immediately after the Celebrity Summit left, a container ship also departed from the Global Marine Terminal which shares the shipping channel with the Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal - but the channel is only wide enough for one ship to move at a time.
At approximately 5:45 the Anthem of the Seas finally pulled back into Cape Liberty. At 10:30 PM, The Anthem of the Seas finally departed New York for The Royal Dockyard in Bermuda.
Interesting fact - the Anthem of the Seas is expected to pass the Celebrity Summit on it way to Bermuda tomorrow. The Celebrity Summit will have 2 days at sea before docking in Bermuda and the Anthem will only have 1 day at sea.
