Cunard Line Releases Details on 2021 World Cruise Onboard the Queen Mary 2 Queen Mary 2   Queen Mary 2 will undertake her classic East-West World Voyage in 202 1 to Australia and Asia, which includes the Mediterranean, Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Southern Africa. The World Cruise can be taken as a roundtrip from either New York (113 nights) or London (99 nights). Shorter voyage options range in length from two to 64 nights and can be combined in many ways allowing guests to create the ideal travel experience to the cities of their choice. Where will Cunard Operate the Queen Mary 2 when Cunard resumes sailing?  It is predicted that most cruises lines will favor shorter cruises with limited days at sea. I am curious to see if operators like Cunard Line, who sail the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton England with 5 to 7 days at sea, will alter their itineraries.  Cunard will be faced with many decisions including whether to use the ship exclusively for European cruises and abandon the New York - Southampton crossing; operate sailings from New York to other destinations; Reduce the the number of transatlantic voyages and increase the speed of the ship during these voyages to reduce the time at sea; or have one of the most rigorous sterilization programs of any of the cruise lines sailing. It should be noted that NO cases of the coronavirus was reported on board the Queen Mary 2 as of June 28th. The Queen Mary 2 pulled away from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal just after 6 PM heading down river to her first port of call - Southampton, England . The 113 day cruise is an incredible circuit from New York visiting the Mediterranean, the Arabian Peninsula, Asia's many gems and then on to Australia. Cunard Announces Extended Pause In Operations Until November 2020. Impacts sailings for Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria. Luxury cruise line Cunard, announced that, as a result of the continued impact of Covid-19, it will be extending the pause in operations. For its ships Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, Cunard is cancelling all sailings that were due to depart up to and including 1 November, 2020 and for Queen Elizabeth, departures up to and including the 23 November, 2020. Impacted will be the majority of the Queen Mary 2's transatlantic season, European cruises and New England / Canada sailings. The majority of these would have been sailing from New York. Currently undergoing a refits at the Blohm & Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany, Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is having 35 staterooms added to her top deck. The initial frames to mount the structures to the deck have been hoisted aboard the Queen. In addition to these staterooms 15 single cabins will be added. Cunard Queen Mary 2 - Frames added to secure new staterooms to the existing deck. For the 13 year old ship, this major upgrade will add new dining establishments, existing lounges and staterooms will be totally upgraded. Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is expected to sail directly back to Southampton. Cunard has announced that the Queen Mary 2 is heading back to Southampton England abandoning the remainder of her world cruise due to the coronavirus. Although there are no reports of any infected passengers, Cunard has decided to halt the cruise as a precaution. The Queen  is expected to depart Port Louis, Mauritius on March 23, 2020 and  arrive in Southampton  on April 11, 2020.
