Queen Mary 2 to Receive New Staterooms as Part of Refit.

Currently undergoing a refits at the Blohm & Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany, Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is having 35 staterooms added to her top deck. The initial frames to mount the structures to the deck have been hoisted aboard the Queen. In addition to these staterooms 15 single cabins will be added.

For the 13 year old ship, this major upgrade will add new dining establishments, existing lounges and staterooms will be totally upgraded. Our canine friends are not to be left out of this major refit - 12 additional kennels are being added.
Queen Mary 2 is expected to return to service on June 23, 2016, arriving at Southampton on that day and later that evening departing on an transatlantic crossing to New York.

Cunard Line' Queen Mary 2 will sail an altered itinerary in Asia. Cunard Line Queen Mary 2 left New York on January 13, 2020 as part of a 113 day World Cruise. The current segment of this cruise is approaching a planned extended stay in Hong Kong. In late January, Cunard Line announced that the call by QM2 to Hong Kong on February 18/19 will be replaced replaced with a stay in Singapore. A statement from the line read: "We are currently looking at the impact of travel restrictions due to Corona virus and our imminent ports of call in China and Hong Kong for Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth world voyages. Select Cruise Lines Try To Reenter Service With New Restrictions and Preventative procedures.

  German and Italian Cruise Brands start limited service - sailing short cruises restricted to domestic ports and Italian and German Nationals Select cruise lines has decided to start cruising operations outside of United States waters Norwegian cruise line - Sea Goddess has started cruises for Norwegian citizens on their private yachts - only calling at ports within Norway. Carnival Owned German cruise line Aida Kreuzfarten  is planning to start operations from German ports calling at select German cities. Royal Caribbean's jointly owned German cruise operation Mein Schiff began cruising last month - sailing short cruises to to nowhere for German nationals only. As part of the cruise, the ship sailed to the shipyard where is was built allowing passengers a view of the shipyard. Later this month Carnival Cruises' Italian brand Costa Cruises - will start sailing from Italy with 2 ships. The ships will be restricted to carry only Italian citizens and call only at Italian ports.

Carnival Triumph Has Departed Shipyard in Cadiz Spain.

Transformation of the Carnival Triumph, now Carnival Sunrise, has completed in Cadiz Spain. The transformed Carnival Triumph has left the shipyard in Cadiz Spain late Friday (4/19/19). Work is continuing on the ship as she sails to Norfolk Virginia for a short series of cruises before coming to New York.  The Carnival Sunrise will sail a series of Bermuda, Florida, Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean and New England, Canada cruises from the Big Apple, before spending the winter sailing from Florida..
