Will the Carnival Victory Ever Become the Carnival Radiance?

It is unclear if work will ever resume on the transformation  of the Carnival Victory to the Carnival Radiance at Spain's Navantia Shipyard. The Carnival Victory sailed transatlantic to Cadiz Spain and promptly entered the dry-dock. Demolition began on the Transatlantic voyage and work was planned to begin immediately. A Greek Ferry was chartered by the shipyard to house all of the workers during the 2 month,  $200 million dollar transformation into the Carnival Radiance. Before the ferry could reach the shipyard in Spain, it was diverted back to Greece because the Coronavirus hit Spain very hard and the shipyard was forced to pause operations.  All work stopped. The skeletal crew remained on board the ship and were trapped onboard in Spain. Conversion Work On The Carnival Victory to Become the Carnival Radiance Has Halted

Work Has Been Temporary Suspended On Board the Conversion of the Carnival Victory to Become Carnival Radiance Reports out of Cadiz, Spain state that all conversion work on the Carnival Victory, to become the Carnival Radiance, has halted. The $200 Million dollar refit was expected to touch almost every corner of the ship. Work has stopped due to the Coronavirus and the lockdown in Spain which is preventing workers from being able to report to work. It was also reported that efforts are under-weigh to remove the non-essential crew from the ship and attempt to make travel arrangements to fly them home. It is expected that work will resume on a later date yet  "to be determined". The new Carnival Radiance was expected to debut in Europe in May and then sail transatlantic to New York where she was expected to sail cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean. September 27, 2019 - Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas arrived earlier this week in Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain to begin her $165 million amplification. The cruise line shared photos of Oasis undergoing the beginning of the work that will add a variety of new features, including the Ultimate Abyss; The Perfect Storm trio of water slides, a re-imagined, Caribbean pool deck; new kids and teens spaces transformed from top to bottom, and more. There will be welcoming festivities including an official naming session for the ship. The Carnival Sunrise was previously the Carnival Triumph which was totally renovated and re-emerged as the Carnival Sunrise. After spending approximately $200 Million dollars on the ships refurbishment - she is very much a new ship. The ship's refit was completed in March and she sailed from Spain to Norfolk - where the Carnival Sunrise made a series of cruises to Bermuda and Florida / the Bahamas. After Completing Her Refit the Carnival Triumph Re-energes from Shipyard As Carnival Sunrise.

Carnival Sunrise (ex Carnival Triumph) Arrives in the United States after her refit. Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Sunrise arrived in Norfolk on 4/29/2019 after completing her total transformation / refit in Spain. The ship, which previously  sailed at the Carnival Triumph was modernized and refreshed - adding new public spaces, new dining venues, additional entertainment areas, improved stateroom linens and furnishings, engineering and mechanical upgrades. After a short series of cruises from Norfolk (starting 4/29), the Carnival Sunrise will be sailing from New York - starting late May though October.
