Royal Caribbean to Offer Buffets Post Operational Pause. Royal Caribbean has announced that they will continue to offer buffets on their cruise ships post pandemic. Royal Caribbean has hinted that the future of the buffet may include 1) Having a crew member dish out portions so only one person touches the utensils; 2) food dispensed in single serve portions. Pick and Go.  3) Disposable utensils - only you use the serving spoon and then dispose. It is possible to see a combination of all of the option above on the RCCL ships. Royal Caribbean has to depend on buffets to feed a portion of their passenger base since there are not enough onboard space in the restaurants to accommodate everyone. Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas New York New Jersey 2020 Debut Delayed. If the world was back in order, yesterday would have been the maiden voyage of the totally renovated Oasis of the Seas from Cape Liberty, Bayonne, New Jersey. Although the Oasis class ships have been around for a while (some 12 years), yesterday would have marked the first time an Oasis Class ship visited New York. The 1,186 foot long, 213 foot long ship would have sailed a 7 day cruise to Cape Canaveral, Fla; Nassau, Bahamas ; and Coco Cay, Bahamas . Coco Cay is Royal Caribbean's Private Island - Branded as the Perfect Day at Coco Cay . Instead the Oasis of the Seas sits some 100 Nautical Miles Southeast of Freeport in the Bahamas awaiting a decision on the future. Oasis of the Seas carried 6,296 passengers at full capacity and a crew of 2,165 crew, The Oasis was expected to sail a series of these Florida and Bahamas cruises until October of 2020 along with a single cruise to Canada....

Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas - To Sail From New York in 2021. Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas is expected to sail from Cape Liberty Bayonne, New Jersey in 2021. It is unclear at this time, if a portion of her 2020 cruise season from Bayonne will occur, but 2021 is looking promising. The Oasis of the Seas' New York arrival will represent the first time one of the Oasis class ship have pulled into the port. To date all Oasis class ship have avoided  the Port of New York as it was suspected the Oasis class ships may be too tall to slip beneath the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. The Bridge's clearance is listed as 228 Feet. The  Oasis of the Seas measures 225,282 tons, is 1,187 feet long, 208 feet wide and requires an air clearance of 208 feet.. Cape Liberty Bayonne Cruise Terminal Undergoes Modifications To Accommodate Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. Modifications are underway at the Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal in Bayonne New Jersey to accommodate the world's largest ship. The Anthem of the Seas measures 1,139 feet in length. The Oasis of the Seas measures 1,186 feet in length and the 1,021 foot long Adventure of the Seas Although only 47 feet longer than the Anthem of the Seas and 165 feet longer than the Adventure of the Seas, work is being conducted to lengthen the wharf, strengthen the extended pier and provide additional bollards to secure the ship when docked. Royal Caribbean to Restructure Their Adventure Oceans Children's Program Fleet Wide. When Royal Caribbean re-introduced the Oasis of the Seas after her amplification, enhancements were made to the ship's Adventure Ocean's  youth programs. The most obvious change was the combing of the 6-12 year olds in a single group. In addition, each age group will be renamed and have new activities, events and games/electronics  incorporated into the enhanced program. Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas Too Large to Fit Under the Verrazaro Bridge? It appears that the port of New York will not see a Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ship anytime soon. It appears that the ships are too tall to pass under the Verrazaro - Narrows bridge. The height of the 220,000+ ton ship is 236 feet tall and the clearance under the bridge is only 228 feet. The ship might be able to enter the port if the funnels are equipped with a hinge that will allow the funnels and mast to clear the bridge. This "hinge" is not unusual and can be found on other ships as seen in the photo below on the Norwegian Wind.
