Cruise lines not offering the discounts cruise passengers are expecting. With all the bad press and passenger fears, one would think that cruise lines would be offering steep discounts. It seems to be far from the situation. I did some spot checking of the cruise lines website and I am seeing strong pricing for sailings from New York.  Royal Caribbean still seems to be asking, on average, about $100/day for an interior cabin. The best deal I saw in August was an 11 day New England / Canada cruise on the smaller Empress of the Seas from Cape Liberty at $630/pp for an inside cabin.  Norwegian Cruise Line's pricing seem a little softer offering 7 day cruises starting at $519/pp for 7 day cruises to Bermuda; New England /Canada Cruises or Florida / Bahamas. This price is for an interior stateroom. Carnival Cruises' Carnival Sunrise to Return to New York in 2020 Building upon the popularity of short Bermuda cruises introduced on Carnival Horizon, Carnival Sunrise will offer a series of “long weekend” getaways to Bermuda as well as longer length Caribbean voyages from the Big Apple beginning May 21, 2020. The program includes eight, nine-day voyages with stops at the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay and Nassau.  Eight, four-day “long weekend” voyages to Bermuda will also be offered, departing Thursdays and returning Mondays and spending a full day on the island.  Seven, eight-day voyages visiting beautiful ports in the Caribbean and Bahamas will be offered as well. Carnival Cruise Line Ship in Havana when US and Cuba were on better terms. In a change of direction, the United States government has banned all education exchange travel between the United States and Cuba. The US government was allowing cruise lines and air travel to Cuba for Cultural and People to People learning events. In a snap decision the US government halted all travel between the two countries sending the cruise lines into a scramble to find alternate ports, offer discounts and incentives to keep already made bookings and more. Under the old agreement US citizens were only allowed to explore Cuba with a tour from the ship and passengers were NOT allowed to talk individually to citizens or explore the city on their own. Norwegian Cruise lines impressive Norwegian Jade Norwegian Cruise Line had one of its busiest weekends in New York ever.  On Saturday 4/27/19, the Norwegian Getaway left on a transatlantic voyage to LeHarve, France. Sunday saw the Norwegian Jade dock in Brooklyn and later sail to Punta Delgada Portugal. The Norwegian Pearl  sailed from Manhattan to Cobh Cork Ireland Sunday afternoon and finally the Norwegian Escape left for a seven day cruise to Bermuda at 4:30 PM from Manhattan. In total, Norwegian Cruise Line debarked and embarked over 28,000 vacationers.
