Artists Rendering of Carnival Cruises' New Carnival Mardi Gras - Delivery Delayed until February, 2021 Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the Mardi Gras will now debut in early 2021,  with cruises sailing from Port Canaveral starting February. 6, 2021. The Carnival Mardi Gras was expected to sail a short series of cruises from New York before heading to Florida for the Fall / Winter - those cruises were cancelled earlier in the year and now the ship has been delayed further. Itineraries out of Port Canaveral for departures from Nov. 14, 2020 to Jan. 30, 2021 have been cancelled. "We continue to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global commerce, public health and our cruise operations. Carnival Corporation Announces Upcoming Fleet Reductions and Delay of New Ships. Carnival Cruises announced that the company expects future capacity to be moderated by the phased re-entry of its ships, the removal of capacity from its fleet and delays in new ship deliveries.  As previously announced, the company intends to accelerate the removal of ships in fiscal 2020 which were previously expected to be sold over the upcoming years. The company sold one ship during June 2020 and has agreements for the disposal of five ships and preliminary agreements for an additional three ships, all of which are expected to leave the fleet in the next 90 days.  These agreements are in addition to the sale of four ships, which were announced prior to fiscal 2020. AIDA Cruises to Resume cruises from German ports post coronavirus starting August 2020 AIDA previously announced it will resume guest cruise operations from ports in Germany beginning August 2020 with three of its ships, making it the first of the company's nine cruise brands to resume guest cruise operations. AIDA will introduce additional safety and protective measures which will include pre-boarding health questionnaires and temperature checks for both guests and crew, physical distancing guidelines, routing systems on arrival, departure and onboard, increased mitigation and sanitation efforts in all cabins and public areas, as well as closely managing capacities at onboard experiences. These enhanced measures have been developed with advice from medical experts and align with the current guidance from the World Health Organization ("WHO") and the German Robert Koch Institute ("RKI"), as well as other governmental and health authorities....

Norwegian Encore - One of Many Ships which were expected to sail from New York this past weekend. This past weekend had the potential to be a very busy cruise weekend - but due to the Coronavirus- mother-nature had different plans. On July 1st Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas was scheduled to depart Cape Liberty, Bayonne  on a 9-day Bermuda / Eastern Caribbean Cruise. On July 2nd the Carnival Sunrise was scheduled to depart Manhattan for a 4 day cruise to Bermuda. On July 4th Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Pearl and Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas were both headed to Florida and the Bahamas. Cruise Industry Predictions -Cruise Lines are scrapping cruise ships well before their useful lives are over.   Now that the pause in cruise operations enters its fourth month, the future of cruising this year does not look good. As predicted earlier cruise lines are starting to dispose of ships well before the end of their natural lives. This action is being driven by a number of underlying circumstances. One is the lack of demand for cruises in the near future. In addition, some of these older ship's accommodations do not offer balcony cabins. Forward looking most passengers will desire balcony cabins due to the fear of an outbreak of coronavirus and fear of being quarantined in their cabin.  It is expected that the demand for inside and outside cabins will definitely be less and the cruise lines will be forced to sell those at a much steeper discount. For these older ships, which do not offer many balconies, the revenue generated will be far less than...

Six ships expected to exit in next 90 days The company is accelerating the removal of ships in fiscal 2020 that were previously planned to be sold in future years. Carnival said it has preliminary agreements for the disposal of six ships that are expected to exit in the next 90 days, and the company is working on additional sales. The exact ships have not been named but it is expected that their older ships will be the first to go. The ships could span multiple Carnival Brands including AIDA, Holland America, Chartered ships to other carriers, Seabourn, Costa, Cunard, Princess, P&O, P&O Australia and others.   Carnival to Sail Crew Home, Transfer Between Ship Expected Off of the Bahamas Eighteen Carnival Cruise Line ships will rendezvous in the Bahamas over the next several days as the final plans are put in place to sail nine of the ships to repatriate more than 10,000 healthy crew members who remain on board due to restrictions limiting air travel to Asia, Africa, Europe, India and Latin America.    The ships have been at various US homeports provisioning and bunkering for their journeys. Certain crew will join ships using water shuttles off the coast of the Bahamas.  Once this is completed, nine ships will sail to their destinations with crew from North American-based ships on board.
