Carnival Sunrise (ex Carnival Triumph) Arrives in the United States after her refit. Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Sunrise arrived in Norfolk on 4/29/2019 after completing her total transformation / refit in Spain. The ship, which previously  sailed at the Carnival Triumph was modernized and refreshed - adding new public spaces, new dining venues, additional entertainment areas, improved stateroom linens and furnishings, engineering and mechanical upgrades. After a short series of cruises from Norfolk (starting 4/29), the Carnival Sunrise will be sailing from New York - starting late May though October. Norwegian Cruise lines impressive Norwegian Jade Norwegian Cruise Line had one of its busiest weekends in New York ever.  On Saturday 4/27/19, the Norwegian Getaway left on a transatlantic voyage to LeHarve, France. Sunday saw the Norwegian Jade dock in Brooklyn and later sail to Punta Delgada Portugal. The Norwegian Pearl  sailed from Manhattan to Cobh Cork Ireland Sunday afternoon and finally the Norwegian Escape left for a seven day cruise to Bermuda at 4:30 PM from Manhattan. In total, Norwegian Cruise Line debarked and embarked over 28,000 vacationers. Carnival Triumph to be Christened as the Carnival Sunrise in NYC in May. As Carnival Sunrise makes her debut following her $200 million transformation, Carnival Cruise Line announced today that Kelly Arison, daughter of Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison and his wife Madeleine, will serve as godmother for the ship at an invitation-only ceremony in New York on May 23. In what is sure to be a touching moment, Kelly will step into the godmother role previously held by her mother when the ship first entered service as Carnival Triumph, in 1999. In an added stroke of family ties, Kelly’s grandmother Lin Arison served as godmother to Carnival Sunrise’s sister ship, Carnival Sunshine, in 2013. Transformation of the Carnival Triumph, now Carnival Sunrise, has completed in Cadiz Spain. The transformed Carnival Triumph has left the shipyard in Cadiz Spain late Friday (4/19/19). Work is continuing on the ship as she sails to Norfolk Virginia for a short series of cruises before coming to New York.  The Carnival Sunrise will sail a series of Bermuda, Florida, Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean and New England, Canada cruises from the Big Apple, before spending the winter sailing from Florida.. Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas - Arrives Early At Cape Liberty, Bayonne. The east coast of the US was subject to heavy rains and strong winds this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The adverse weather had cruise ships speeding toward New York in in order to avoid the storms. Friday at 8:30 PM, Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas arrived in New York a full 12 hours ahead of schedule. Passengers stayed aboard the vessel  along side at the Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal. Azamara Cruises' Azamara Journey docked at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal around 1:30 PM in the afternoon on Saturday. The Azamara Journey was sailing from Bermuda to New York and arrived  a full 20 hours ahead of schedule. The Azamara Journey will spend overnight along side and her passengers will have the opportunity to explore New York City and use the ship as their floating hotel. Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Pearl Arrives in New York for the First Time to Sail Bermuda, Bahamas, Florida and Transatlantic Voyages from the Big Apple. Today marked the maiden arrival of the highly rated Norwegian Pearl in New York arriving in the port at around 9:30 AM. Norwegian Getaway Arrives in New York For a Series of Bermuda and Florida/Bahama Cruises. This morning Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Getaway is expected to arrive in New York at around 9:00 AM. She departed Miami on 4/7/2019 with no passengers en-route to NYC. The ship has not been in New York since its maiden voyage in January / February 2014.. The Norwegian Getaway will conduct a four day cruise to Bermuda and also a seven day Florida -Bahamas Cruise from New York, before re-positioning to Europe for the summer season. Norwegian Escape in New York Harbor. Due to the size of the ships today, and the amount of supplies and luggage associated with large ships, ships normally arrive in New York / New Jersey between 1:30 AM and 5:00 AM. The ships are docked and luggage is already on the pier before the sun comes up. The Norwegian Escape's arrival today found the ship just off of mid-town Manhattan at 7:15 AM. It was a mild, clear, sunny morning and the large ship provided a treat to early morning risers along the iver's edge. Due to the hard-work of the crew, the ship was able to offload 4,000+ disembarking passengers and embark 4,000+ new vacation goers and still depart New York on time at 4 PM. Hats off to the crew! Norwegian Gem Norwegian Cruise Line Cruises from Boston - Shown Sailing Into New York Above A long time familiar ship in New York Harbor, the Norwegian Gem left New York on March 28th after completing her prior Caribbean Cruise. The Norwegian Gem loaded supplies and stores for the upcoming cruise and left New York at around 2:00 PM, heading north toward Boston. The Norwegian Gem arrived in Boston around Noon on March 29th and sailed at 4 PM to begin her 2019 spring, summer and fall season from Bean Town. The Norwegian Gem's Inaugural cruise was a 14 day sailing to the Southern Caribbean, Itineraries offered during the season will include Bermuda sailings, New England Canada cruises and Caribbean cruises.
