Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Spirit (Shown) along with the Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore will be temporarily docked in Norfolk, Virginia During last week's earning call, Norwegian Cruise Line announced that some ships would be moved to a cold lay-up status in order to reduce costs during the pause in operations. On Friday it was announced that 3 Norwegian Cruise Line ships - the Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore and the newly transformed Norwegian Spirit will be laid up at Norfolk Virginia's Portsmouth Marine Terminal . The ships reportedly have only a skeleton crew of 175 each. Crew member will NOT be allowed to go ashore but the ships will have reduced fuel, staffing and upkeep costs. The MARAD Hospital Ship USNS Comfort is expected to depart New York on Thursday April 30, 2020. UPDATE:Today, Friday (4/30), just after 12 noon, the USNS Comfort slowly backed out of Pier 90 Manhattan. The Hospital ship completed her New York mission tending to the ill and those stricken with the coronavirus. The current number of cases can be handled by the local hospitals and other constructed temporary hospitals. The ship slowly headed down the Hudson River flankes by a half-dozen tug boats all in salute. Lining her decks were maritime and medical heroes all wearing masks as they walked the decks of the ship.
