 RETURN TO NYCRUISEINFO.com Carnival Cruise Line today revealed additional details on BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, and the centerpiece of the Ultimate Playground, an expansive open-air recreation area on Mardi Gras, set to debut in August 2020. The announcement was made at the annual International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Conference in Orlando by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy who was joined by the line’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal. Carnival partnered with industry leader, Munich-based Maurer Rides, to showcase BOLT at IAAPA which brings together innovators from the world’s largest theme parks and attractions. Norwegian Cruise Line, the innovator in global cruise travel, today announced that its newest innovative ship, Norwegian Encore, successfully completed another major construction milestone, when she departed the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and sailed down the Ems River towards the North Sea. On Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, Norwegian Encore began her conveyance to Eemshaven, Netherlands, with initial crew members on board already preparing to welcome her first guests this November.  At nearly 1,100 feet long, with a gross tonnage of almost 170,000 and a guest capacity of 3,998, the ship will be delivered to the cruise line on Oct. 30, 2019. Holland America's  Upscale Prinsendam to Leave Fleet in July 2019 From the post on Tuesday, we covered that Holland America has substantially changed their 2019 New England Canada cruises, swapping out ships and reducing sailings. On Monday Holland America announced the sale of their high end ship Prinsendam to Germany's Phoenix Reisen. The ship is expected to transfer to her new owners in July 2019.  Prinsendam ’s itineraries from July 1, 2019, onward are scheduled to be assimilated by Rotterdam, Volendam and Veendam. Phoenix Reisen Artania - Paid New York a Visit this past weekend. The Artania arrived in New York on Saturday (April 21, 2018) at 10:00 AM with 1,200 German  passengers. The ship was on one of the final leg of her 136 Day World Cruise which departed Marseilles, France on 12/21/2017 and will end in Bremerhaven, Germany on May 6, 2018. The  44,650 Ton ship was build in 1984  but has been extensively refitted and updated to a modern cruise ship. The Artania was originally built as the Royal Princess for Princess Cruises (1984) and later became the Artemis of P&O Cruises (2005) and became the Artania in 2011 for Germany's Phoenix Reisen. Passengers enjoyed 2 great days in New York. The weather cooperated and the temperature was mild for this time of year making exploring New York pleasurable.
