Select Cruise Lines Try To Reenter Service With New Restrictions and Preventative procedures.

  German and Italian Cruise Brands start limited service - sailing short cruises restricted to domestic ports and Italian and German Nationals Select cruise lines has decided to start cruising operations outside of United States waters Norwegian cruise line - Sea Goddess has started cruises for Norwegian citizens on their private yachts - only calling at ports within Norway. Carnival Owned German cruise line Aida Kreuzfarten  is planning to start operations from German ports calling at select German cities. Royal Caribbean's jointly owned German cruise operation Mein Schiff began cruising last month - sailing short cruises to to nowhere for German nationals only. As part of the cruise, the ship sailed to the shipyard where is was built allowing passengers a view of the shipyard. Later this month Carnival Cruises' Italian brand Costa Cruises - will start sailing from Italy with 2 ships. The ships will be restricted to carry only Italian citizens and call only at Italian ports....

AIDA Cruises to Resume Cruising in August From German Ports.

AIDA Cruises to Resume cruises from German ports post coronavirus starting August 2020 AIDA previously announced it will resume guest cruise operations from ports in Germany beginning August 2020 with three of its ships, making it the first of the company's nine cruise brands to resume guest cruise operations. AIDA will introduce additional safety and protective measures which will include pre-boarding health questionnaires and temperature checks for both guests and crew, physical distancing guidelines, routing systems on arrival, departure and onboard, increased mitigation and sanitation efforts in all cabins and public areas, as well as closely managing capacities at onboard experiences. These enhanced measures have been developed with advice from medical experts and align with the current guidance from the World Health Organization ("WHO") and the German Robert Koch Institute ("RKI"), as well as other governmental and health authorities....

Phoenix Reisen's Amera (previously Holland America's Prinsendam to visit New York in 2021 Phoenix Reisen's latest acquisition - Amera is scheduled to call 2 times in New York in 2021. The Amera - which previous sailed as Holland America's Prinsendam - will call at New York on April 8 & 9  2020 as part of the Amera's 125 day World Cruise  which departs Monaco on December 2020. September 29 & 30, 2020 as part of a England, Ireland, Canada and New England cruise.  The Amera will call in New York again in 2022 as part of the 143 day world cruise. Phoenix Reisen's Amadea Heading to New York For an Overnight Stay.

Phoenix Reisen's Amadea Making a Call in New York as part of a world cruise. Phoenix Reisen's Amadea is heading to New York for a May 1st arrival. The Amadea is traveling on an around the world cruise for the German cruise operator.  The Amadea will spend overnight in New York before heading toward New England, Canada and then a transatlantic voyage to Germany. The Amadea previously operated as NYK Cruise Line's Asuka and is now been operating for mid-ship cruise operator for approximately 13 years. The Amadea measures 633 feet in length, carries 624 passengers and weighs 28,856 tons. The Amadea caters primarily to German speaking passengers. AIDA Cruises AIDAvita - One of a number of German cruise lines offering extended stays in New York on their New England, Canada Cruises. As stated in previous blog posts, as the fall approaches, many cruise lines re-locate their ships to New York to Sail on New England Canada Cruises.  These fall sailing are very popular among the German Cruise lines like AIDA and Mein Schiff (TUI Cruises) which use New York / New Jersey as a turn around port. Their cruises use New York as a embarkation and disembarkation port allowing passenger time to visit and explore the Big Apple. Usually the cruise lines add an overnight stay for their passengers in New York and the passengers can use the ship as their hotel. So for instance on a 14 day cruise, the ship arrive in New York on Day 13 allowing guests to stay onboard overnight and explore NYC.
