Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem - Currently idle in Nassau, Bahamas. 3/22/20 - Although originally reported to be laid up temporarily in Jacksonville, Florida, the Norwegian Gem headed from New York directly to Nassau. As of Sunday, the Norwegian Gem remains dockside with other Norwegian Cruise Line , Seven Seas Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises ships. (all of the Norwegian Cruise Lines Family). Located in Nassau with the Norwegian Gem is the Norwegian Breakaway (another New York favorite) and Norwegian Encore (coming to New York in the summer). The Norwegian Gem was expected to sail 10 and 11 day cruises from New York before heading to Boston for Boston to Bermuda cruises in May/June. The current plan has the cruises from Boston operating as planned. Berthed together is the Seven Seas Explorer and the Riviera of Seven Seas Cruises. Victory Cruise Lines Adds 2020 Sailing From New York.

Victory Cruise Lines' Victory 1 to Sail A Repositioning Cruise From New York Small ship operator, Victory Cruise Line has added a single cruise from New York as their ship - Victory I  repositions from the Bahamas to the Great Lakes. The 207 passenger, 286 foot long ship, will sail a coastal United States itinerary as she make her way to the Great Lakes for a series of Great Lakes cruises. The ship, which is registered in the Bahamas will make calls at both Canadian and American ports of call while sailing the lake region. The cruise from New York will depart on April 27. 2020 and sail to Newport, RI; Boston, MA; Portland, Me ; Rockland, Me; Bar Harbor, Me and Halifax, Nova Scotia where the cruises ends. Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas was heading toward Cape Liberty Bayonne, NJ after completing a repositioning cruise in the Caribbean. She is arriving in New York to start her Spring, Summer and Fall cruise season and departed New York on Friday (5/17/19) on an 8-day Bermuda and Bahamas cruise. Her New York / New Jersey cruise season will include cruises to Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Florida, Bahamas and   New England / Canada. At the same time, the Adventure of the Seas was heading to New York, the small cruise ship American Constitution of American Cruise Line was heading toward Boston for a series of New England / Canada Cruises before sailing to New York for a series of Fall Foliage Hudson River Cruises. The small ship carries approximately 175 guests in oversized suites. Focus of these cruises is on education and port exploration....

Missed Item From The Past Week - Windstar Cruises Star Pride Maiden Arrival in NYC.

Windstar Cruises Star Pride Arrives In NYC Windstar Cruises Star Pride arrived in New York for her maiden arrival a full 12 hours late due to an unexpected overnight in Newport, Rhode Island. The Star Pride encounter a malfunction in her engine cooling system which caused the ship's engines to shut down temporarily. Stranded near Martha's Vinyard the engines were eventually restarted and she pulled into Newport for a Coast Guard inspection. Clearing the inspection, she sailed from Newport at 7:00 AM on 9/8 and sailed 13 hours to New York arriving on Saturday (the same day) at 8:30 PM. After backing into passenger ship terminal, she disembarked her passengers and embarked her departing passengers well into the wee hours of the morning. Expected to sail from New York at 8:00 AM, it wasn't until 9:00 AM that she cast off and began her New England/Canada Cruise. Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Dawn to Return to New York in 2019 for New England Canada and Bahamas / Florida Cruises In a move to offer slightly more capacity from Boston and to change up cruise schedules, Norwegian Cruise Line will be operating the Norwegian Gem from Boston and the Norwegian Dawn from New York. This ship swap will place the slightly larger Norwegian Gem back to sailing to Bermuda and New England/Canada. while the Norwegian Dawn will offer sailings from New York to Florida and the Bahamas as well as New England Canada. The swap is expected to happen in May 2019.
